Living the Bucket List!
I am just returning tp FineArt after a two-year absence during which I married, moved, and restored a 100-year old mansion in the little town of Independence, Kansas. I feel as if I slipped back in time to an era lost to history, technology, and values. At one time, Independence was home to the most millionaires (remember when that designation meant something?) per capita in the USA! From my back window I see the mansion built by the Sterling Oil family, now ARCO. The original building still stands as an icon of former lives and times. This place is a jewel on the prairies so disparaged by the uninformed!
Many of the images posted in this portfolio are of Alaskan animals and places. It is my great pleasure to share what I have been blessed to see, and places I have been blessed to visit. I spent over 25 years living on the Inside Passage. Alaska is one of the most sought-after tourism destinations on our planet, for reasons readily recognized by these images.
Many of the Lower 48 images were shot in Wichita, Kansas. I have been asked frequently why I live in Kansas, after living in Alaska.... and so, I am creating a documentary on just that matter. I hope that my images of my new home might explain why I love it so much. Kansas is rich with wild-west history, character, and industry.... without which, our world would be a poorer place, and our American culture lacking in texture and just plain good storytelling.
Thanks for your visit, and I hope you will enjoy.
