Description
This tiny cemetery located in the woods of a remote Alaskan site contains the remains of Aleut Eskimos who were relocated to a primitive facility at Funter Bay on Alaska's Inside Passage. Little known, far-less remembered, many of these, kind, sensitive people died there from exposure to the brutal winter elements and bureaucratic neglect. It was a time of war, fear that the Japanese would inhabit their tiny Northern Island on the Bering Sea, all of the inhabitants were relocated "for their own safety." I had a dear friend who was one. Her comments and her memories contained the loss of her mother there, as well as the damage to her "little brother." I adore the Eskimo people and especially my friends Marie and Olga.
