Welcome...

My images reflect the elements I seize upon through the lenses of my cameras. I love and maintain that authenticity because it captures the integrity and reality I experienced in that magic moment I was fortunate to record it. If the moon didn’t rise, the sun didn’t set, no bridge crossed the river, or an ungainly window sat under an inconvenient eave, my images will not indicate otherwise however much I wish they might.

I left my California home bound for Southeast Alaska's Inside Passage nearly 40 years ago. My return to the Lower 48 occurred after 22 years a resident, ten more interrupted by Lower 48 stays, more Alaskan years of summer work, and finally as a blissful resident of Independence, Kansas. I live in a sleepy town, tucked into the early years of our last century, with my husband, David Cook and our four-legged gentleman Scottish Terrier, Ferguson.

My passion for writing and photography ranges now into videography. My library includes Alaskan animal images captured along shorelines perhaps from a surging Zodiac to inland excursions in search of the flora, fauna, and scenic beauty of Alaska. My more recent fascination for the creatures and culture of my new opportunities has contributed and expanded my image catalog. From the tiny creatures who visit my garden to the vast profiles of Americana, whether through industry, culture, or the rich American spirit so highly profiled in the crowds and entries of hometown parades, I feel a deep joy in capturing and sharing the soul of my work.

I love the mood I can create with an enhanced image, that it can become reminiscent of an old master, a watercolor, or a modern acrylic expression. While the elements of my images remain, technology offers to expand, embellish, and/or interpret my work with limitless applications and expressions. I feel able to emphasize mood or focus with those tools, whether my subject is set in nature’s loveliness and innocence, whether I witness the dignity and creativity of human endeavor or the soul and spirit of my American heritage and history.

I am polishing an "I CHING" piece that I wrote some time back in which I illustrate my interpretations. Although unfinished and many miles to go, I have decided to create a collection dedicated to the illustrations as I consider their possible applications. I find the software treatments of them captivating as elements within a composition of the whole and that through their common natures they seem to possess almost mystical qualities as does the wisdom contained in the I CHING.

I hope my images bring the observer a fraction of the joy they have brought me to create it.
