This image, although I say this of many, is a favorite. It is timeless to me because it evokes old photographs, perhaps, of Civil War soldiers marching in a parade in their classic regalia. The youth, the numbers suggested in the background, the focus of the young drummers, each element suggests movement and energy, and the entire composition speaks of American tradition, heritage, and culture. When I look at this image, I await the next beat of the drum! Again, my favorite photographic opportunity: a parade!
A "real" camera, my first, I purchased more than 50 years ago. I didn't intend to become a commercial photographer, but simply to capture what extraordinary compositions I deemed captivating through my magic lenses. My images began to captivate my friends, grew in numbers, and finally admonished me to share my good fortune.
