This boat is on a grid for maintenance. The barnacles are scrubbed from its hull and then painted or repairs are made--tasks most easily completed out of the water at a low tide. I like this image not simply because it illustrates the process of caring for a boat, but it provides a clear illustration of the construction of a vessel under the water necessary for it to navigate. This is an Alaskan image and this little boat is a sea-going vessel.
A "real" camera, my first, I purchased more than 50 years ago. I didn't intend to become a commercial photographer, but simply to capture what extraordinary compositions I deemed captivating through my magic lenses. My images began to captivate my friends, grew in numbers, and finally admonished me to share my good fortune.
