his image was taken one Alaskan summer evening when I was leaving Sitka Sound, heading out to the fishing grounds. The evening light during those long summer days is glorious and unforgettable for its gold cast upon the still waters of the sea.

Susan Stephenson

A "real" camera, my first, I purchased more than 50 years ago. I didn't intend to become a commercial photographer, but simply to capture what extraordinary compositions I deemed captivating through my magic lenses. My images began to captivate my friends, grew in numbers, and finally admonished me to share my good fortune. I still consider my love of photography to be that of a humble traveler although I have sold and gathered a few kind, "official" kudos along the way. Since that first Minolta, I have lived and traveled the hills of my native California, the fjords and inlets of Southeast Alaska's Inside Passage, and the prairies of Kansas, my current home.
